Corporate social responsibility refers to the ethical and sustainable practices that businesses can undertake to have a positive impact on society, the environment and the economy. At Universal Tankers, that means giving back to our local communities, delivering our services in an environmentally sustainable way, and raising money for charities to support their good works.
We always endeavour to conduct business in a manner that is fair and transparent, with the interests and participation of all stakeholders - including employees, customers, suppliers and the community - at its heart. We also take our environmental responsibilities seriously, by carrying out our waste disposal services with rigorous adherence to environmental regulations, and using drain jetting technology that does not present a risk of chemical contamination.
Universal Tankers is a family business, and we extend the same care to every member of our team that we do to our family members. We have also chosen several charity partners to support and raise money for, to help pass on our good fortune and success to our community.
Our Charities
Universal Tankers supports a number of charities, including some that have personal meanings to members of our team and others whose good work speaks for itself. Our sense of corporate social responsibility means that we want to support charitable causes both in our local community, and those whose work touches people all over the UK.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) is dedicated to supporting members of the British Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. Founded in 1921, the organisation provides a wide range of services and assistance, including financial, emotional and practical support. It is perhaps best known for its annual poppy appeal, which symbolises remembrance and support for service members and is one of the UK’s largest fundraising events.
The RBL offers advice on finances, housing and mental health support for members and veterans of the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, and campaigns on behalf of the Armed Forces community. Universal Tankers is proud to support these efforts.
Tom Harrison House supports military veterans and emergency services personnel who are struggling with addiction. The charity’s specialist facility in Liverpool provides residential treatment and recovery programmes tailored to the unique needs of those who have served in the Armed Forces and emergency services. The organisation’s inspiring success is owed to a combination of treatment programmes tailored to the specific experiences of veterans and emergency services personnel, with practical support like counselling, group therapy, physical fitness activities, and life skills training.
Tom Harrison House has made a significant difference to many people who have served their country and communities, and offered a path to recovery that has helped them to overcome addiction. The Universal Tankers team is dedicated to supporting Tom Harrison House’s vital rehabilitation programmes.
Derian House Children’s Hospice provides respite and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, along with support for their families. The charity is based in Chorley, Lancashire and offers various services for children including day care, holidays, palliative care and end-of-life support. It also aims to help children enjoy their lives and provide happy memories for their families to cherish.
Derian House relies on charitable donations to provide its vital care and services for free to the children and families who need them. Universal Tankers believes in this mission and is proud to raise money for this important organisation.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is a charitable organisation that provides critical air ambulance services across northern England. The charity operates helicopters staffed by specialist trauma doctors and paramedics who deliver emergency pre-hospital care in the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.
Universal Tankers offers its services in all parts of the UK, but our home base is Stokesley, in Yorkshire. GNAAS is a local charity that relies heavily on donations to offer life-saving medical care wherever it is most needed, and we are committed to raising money for this important work.
Universal Tankers’ team is based all around the UK, and takes part in a range of different fundraising activities to support our charity partners.
We focus on a combination of fundraising efforts and awareness raising, which helps draw attention to the incredible difference all of these charities are making in the areas they work in.
