OUR HISTORY

OVER 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE

Our History

our history

In 1993 Company Director Simon Gunn followed his father’s footsteps and began to establish a new business in the portable cabin rental industry, renting cabins alongside welfare units. However, it wasn’t long until Simon recognised a gap in the market for providing high standard portable toilets and welfare units for both the construction and events industry.

As the business began to grow rapidly in 2005, a new challenge provided the Universal Group with an opportunity to invest in our first Vacuum Tanker. The acquisition opened new doors and the ability to not only begin servicing our own toilets and cabins but also service the facilities provided by a number of our long standing customers. Universal Tanker Solutions Ltd was born.

As our vital customers expanded and branched into new areas, we invested our energy and finances to ensure we continued to grow with them. As part of this continued growth, Universal Tankers seized an opportunity to partner with Yorkshire based Waters Waste to create JV Waste, a joint venture partnership between the two outfits.

The family business mindset of both Universal Tankers and Waters Waste created a perfect jigsaw fit. The success of the venture brought Universal Tankers into new areas within the UK and a drive to grow even further. In 2017, Simon purchased Waters Waste and merged it with the Universal Group.

After the seamless takeover, Universal began seeking further expansion in early 2019 when North East based company Dial A Loo was the next company to be acquired by Universal Tanker Solutions Ltd. This put the company into a strong position with a coverage area as far north as the Scottish borders and as far south as the southern coast.

Here at Universal Tankers, our staff and customers are always at the beating heart of everything we do and stand for. As a family run business, we pride ourselves in treating all our staff as an expansion of our ever growing family.

Our employees are more than just a number, we value their opinions and input into making Universal Tankers grow from strength to strength and this is why we continue to invest not only in the growth of our materialistic assets, but also in the development and training of our most vital assets, our staff.
